LiveScan fingerprinting offers a swift and accurate alternative to traditional ink methods. By capturing fingerprints digitally, it enables rapid electronic transmission to relevant agencies, often delivering background check results within 24 to 72 hours. This process minimizes errors like smudges or incomplete prints, reducing the need for reprints. Additionally, as a paperless system, LiveScan is environmentally friendly, reducing the need for ink and paper.
Preparation: Individuals must complete a LiveScan form specific to the requesting agency or employer, detailing personal information and the purpose of the background check.
Fingerprint Capture: A certified Live Scan trained technician uses an electronic scanner to capture the individual's fingerprints. This device records high-quality images of the fingerprints without the need for ink.
Data Transmission: The captured fingerprint images, along with the individual's personal information, are securely transmitted to the appropriate government agencies, such as the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), for processing.

Schedule an appointment
Bring your government-issued ID and the request form provided by the agency requiring the background check.
We’ll scan your fingerprints electronically and submit them to the appropriate agency.
Follow up on your background check with the DOJ (not required).

Your LiveScan request form, which includes your agency’s ORI code and billing information.

LiveScan costs vary depending on the agency and type of background check. Fees typically include:
Rolling Fee: Charged by the LiveScan provider for capturing your fingerprints.
Processing Fees: Charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and/or FBI for processing the background check.

Most appointments take about 15 - 20 minutes. However, additional time may be needed if there are multiple individuals or multiple scans needed to capture sufficient fingerprints.
The processing time depends on the agency requesting the background check. DOJ results are typically available within 48–72 hours, while FBI checks may take longer.
Rejections can occur due to poor fingerprint quality due to individual fingerprints. If this happens, contact us and let us know, you will need a rejection letter from the DOJ informing you to re-do and we’ll reschedule your appointment and recapture your fingerprints at no additional cost (depending on agency guidelines). If you do not have rejection letter, we will not be able to rescan for free.
